‘Irish Country House Cooking’ Residential Weekend

23rd – 25th March

With Chef Áine Maguire
If you’re looking for a weekend away with a difference on the Wild Atlantic Way, look no further ! Here is your chance to combine a weekend of expert cooking instruction with gourmet meals while relaxing in the stunning surroundings of Killadangan House overlooking Clew Bay in Westport. Our meticulously restored period house (c.1850s) is the perfect setting to learn some Irish Country House essentials such as scones and bread and jam; the perfect pastry; how to make a terrine, seasonal main courses and simple desserts.
Chef Áine Maguire from the West of Ireland has been cooking up a storm on the Irish cooking scene for almost twenty years. The Mayo born chef is famed for her loyalty to home-grown products, artisan producers and traditional Irish cooking. Áine made her mark on the Dublin restaurant scene as the culinary creator of the Winding Stair restaurant, the first in Ireland to introduce naming producers on a menu and where she received a Michelin Bib Gourmand. She opened a local produce restaurant in Westport, The Idle Wall, which received numerous awards. Having worked in kitchens from France to the Caribbean as a private chef and with the British Ambassador where she cooked for politicians and royals, Áine brings to Killadangan House a wealth of experience and knowledge. Áine is the leader of the Mayo Slow Food convivium, a Fáilte Ireland Food Champion, an MA in Gastronomy student and a specialist in Irish Food History. This will be an intimate, relaxing, informative and fun filled weekend which is limited to just 10 participants.
